High AIMS Summer Institute 2019

High AIMS is a consortium of 30 public school district in southwest Ohio. Fairfield City Schools will serve as this year's host to 2,000+ educators for our 6th annual Summer Institute. We will offer two nationally acclaimed keynote speakers and 250 breakout sessions as teachers and administrators immerse themselves in dynamic and inspiring professional learning.

Known to many as "America's Educator," Ron Clark is the 2000 Disney American Teacher of the Year, a two-time New York Times Bestselling author, the subject of a television movie and the founder of The Ron Clark Academy. Ron Clark brings charisma, energy and devotion to the education profession. Ron pioneered innovative projects in rural North Carolina working with minority students in a low wealth area. His highly effective programs garnered national attention and led to a White House invitation to be honored by the President of the United States.

Hall Davidson, Discovery Learning
Hall Davidson has worked from think tanks in Turkey to classrooms in Tennessee. He has collaborated with thought leaders including teachers, superintendents, and departments of education. A former K-12 bilingual math teacher and college faculty member, he left the classroom to become part of an Emmy-winning team, creating math and technology integration programs. He is an educational innovator digital learning. His talks blend humor, deep insight, and data from both education and industry and illustrate the big picture with nuts and bolts examples. He has worked with transformational industry groups, education ministries, and with thousands of students through guidance of the nation’s oldest student media festival. Across four decades of work with education, he identifies right now as the most transformative and important time for teaching and learning.
Scott Ervin, "The Kid Whisperer"
Scott has a strong passion for improving the lives of teachers, parents, caregivers, and the children they serve. His career has been devoted to education and to helping children succeed.
Scott has over 18 years of experience working with a diverse array of children on a daily basis as a teacher, principal, superintendent, discipline specialist, behavioral consultant, and father. He brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding to his work. Scott specializes in succeeding with troubled and at-risk students. He teaches educators and parents skills and procedures that enable them to be calm and assertive with children.
Katherine McKnight, Ph.D.
Dr. McKnight is a dynamic presenter, dedicated teacher, and award-winning author. Dr. McKnight began her career in education over 30 years ago as a middle school and high school English and social studies teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. In addition to speaking at professional development conferences, she is a regular consultant in schools and classrooms in the United States and Europe. She served as a Distinguished Professor of Research at National Louis University and is the founder of Engaging Learners, an educational company built around her successful Literacy and Learning Center model. Her work in educational leadership, literacy and student skill development has resulted in unprecedented academic achievement in many struggling schools. Dr. McKnight has received several awards for her publications and teaching at the university level. She has authored 17 books that support educational strategies to engage all learners. Her titles include the best-selling The Teacher’s Big Book of Graphic Organizers, winner of the 2013 Teachers’ Choice Award. She’s also written The Second City Guide to Improv in the Classroom and Literacy and Learning Centers for the Big Kids (grades 4-12).
